May 6, 2018: A Long time coming...

I found that I needed to write today. It is a glorious rainy day. Ha ha ha. Some people, like my husband, think I’m nuts that I love rainy days so much. But I find that rainy days bring more creativity and a forced chance to stay in and do just that. I now see why my friends in the UK bring such amazing work to the world such as Tolkien, Froud’s, Lee, Wyatt, Jason of England and all of the countless others that create in moods and climates like this. Don’t get me wrong, I love sunny days at the beach too. But gloomy gray sky days bring me ideas and a rush to my studio.
This is my first entry to what I hope will be a blog and continued on my upcoming website. It is a place for me to journal and keep things real. Turning your passion into a business is difficult, but doable. I’ve been working at this for 10+ years now and I am finally turning the page with a complete website and online store along with loads of other goodies that will be revealed when the time is right. I feel the need to write on certain days and today was one of them. This might end up nonsensical and random with ideas and thoughts, but read this with the understanding that it is not my goal to have this be a grammatically accurate writing. It is a journal. A place for randomness and a place for sharing what is going on and the struggles behind it all.
This has been a long time coming to truly dedicate enough time to turning my art into a full-time business. I’m in the works finally and have a great team of people helping me. As an artist, finding people that you fit well with and can get behind your work as enthusiastically as you feel is a huge plus! Danny and Shannon you have helped add the reinforcement that my work can go somewhere. I thank you both and look forward to our upcoming adventure!
Now to balance out being a mother/taking care of the household stuff, taking care of two crazy boys (one with auditory/sensory issues), being a partner to my fantastic and super supportive husband, running a company with my husband (REVIGLiOS.com), overseeing another company for continued revenue as that is what you do when you are solely responsible for maintaining your income as entrepreneurs and then trying to start your own artistic endeavours by delving into a completely new direction. I won’t lie. It is hard. Everyone has needs and those needs need to be met. Then take in your own quirks that can hold you back, like for example, I HAVE to have my house in order before I begin work each day. Some days, I have to force myself to let that go and dive right into work. You have to be ready for a hurdle like that. For me, having a clean and organized house helps keep my mind uncluttered. Thus, making me better for working. I have learned to balance out those quirks and habits, but it is still an ongoing struggle.
So, some days I’ll write about my process here and other days I’ll write about the struggles of making a self imposed deadline when you need to get groceries, read at storytime for your first grader, pay quarterly taxes, manage on-going testing for some of our public apps and don’t forget auditory CAPDOTs therapy for your third grader plus more stupid little stuff, and you all know that stuff can add up if you don’t stay on top of it, and don’t forget quality time for your spouse at the end of the day to watch that one hour show you’ve begun on Netflix. If you think I watch that without having something in my hands either sculpting, drawing or fabricating your crazy! I rarely sit and watch anything without creating. I just can’t lose that precious time.
I’m off to finish fabricating my new “Keeper”. I’ll post pics as I go today.

I’m having some juggling to do while on this trip and it is wearing me out. That’s not to say that I’m not having the time of my life. Just that being on a holiday trip is not all that it is cracked up to be and I wanted to give you a little insight to the whole facebook/social media facade that a lot of people get caught up in. So many times it is fake. Happy pictures are posted and a world is crumbling behind them. I try to be real. Not fake. I don’t take selfies and I don’t put my face all over my personal or fan site. It is just not me.

Then we all leave for the UK, where I will work on each of their stories and unique details. I have exactly six weeks to complete this goal along with taking pictures and plotting out some further details that I will need for each story and the locations I will be heading to.

Onto the fun stuff. The models! As long as my idea comes full circle I think you all will love the end products. All of the models will be complete on a base and will all tie together in ways inspired by legendary places we’re going to see in person!

So far, I have been told they are reminiscent of The Dark Crystal—that legendary realm of creative inspiration brought to life by Jim Henson, and based on the landmark creations of Brian and Wendy Froud.
